Some conversations are so rich and deeply personal that they feel more like soul nourishment than a podcast episode. That’s exactly what happened when I sat down with my mom, Tina Graham, for this week’s episode of the SmarterWellth Podcast.
We talked about food, but not in the trendy, “what’s your macro split?” kind of way.
This was a heart-to-heart about food as medicine.
Food as comfort.
Food as a love language passed down through generations.
And food as the quiet hero that helped my mom find her purpose after years decades in healthcare.
Tina is the founder of Healthy Sprout and co-founder of Faithfully Fed, an organic kitchen rooted in the belief that what we eat impacts every layer of our wellness—physical, mental, emotional, and even spiritual. But before that, she was a radiology tech working long hours in a cancer center, pouring herself into patient care while feeling a growing pull toward something more.
That “something” became a mission: to nourish others, one healing meal at a time.
In this episode, you’ll hear how one patient’s request for bone broth sparked a shift. How caring for her father in his final days gave her the courage to finally say yes to a long-held dream. And how two determined women—my mom and her equally mission-driven friend—launched a clean eating café in a town that didn’t quite know what to make of green juice and turmeric shots.
(Spoiler alert: it took off like wildfire.)
We bust the myth that healthy food can’t taste good (my teenage son once ate one of her “healthy cakes” and didn’t even realize it). We talk about intuitive eating, tiny shifts that create massive change, and the sacred act of gathering around food—even when life feels heavy.
And we get real about what it means to follow your calling later in life.
Because it’s never too late. To pivot. To heal. To start the thing that’s been tugging at your heart for years.
This one’s personal. It’s powerful. And it’s proof that sometimes the most nourishing journeys begin with a simple crockpot and a whole lot of heart.
